450 A.D. Hunting Poem

Listen closely as odd events transpire:

Two people chosen to reclaim a prize

Hunt their foe, though they hunger, thirst, and tire.

As they pursue the beast, they realize

More than they can give, winning may require.

                              They plunge into the peril without fear;

And soon, the enemy they encounter.

Though vict'ry is theirs, injury severe

Causes the pain of one to surmount her

Ability to toil beside her peer.

Alone, with doubled determination,

Against a fiend of grim reputation,

The heroine brings the quest's cessation

And with it, her own illumination.

This seems so matter of fact - does it have a source? A drawing or something that its drawn from? I again like the style, but didn't feel any emotion, and didn't see it in my mind like I did with the first sonnet. Still, well done :_)

:-) Benjamin P. Albrecht replies: "well, i was going for the 'story poem' style; i might have botched it. still, it was part of the package, with the story and the illustration."

Ohh... that was groovy, it flowed. like a waterfall, LIKE A WATERFALL!! *is hyper* Very good Ben-Chan!

:-) Benjamin P. Albrecht replies: "wow, thank you! i did try to make it faster toward the end, actually; i'm glad it worked."

I'm not sure what to think of this, actually. I know on one hand I would agree with Jessa and on the other with Maggie.

I'll admit I've read more than one sonnet now, and I still hate them. That makes it very difficult for me to judge this poem objectively. I do not think you botched this as much as you think. Keep in mind that writing to a set form is very challenging and difficult. I think the story you are trying to tell is more the cause of things than your skill. It really does flow as Maggie says it, make no mistake, but the story itself is one, I personally believe does not belong poured into this specific form.

I'm not making sense, am I? Apologies for that.

:-) Benjamin P. Albrecht replies: "thing is, i'd already done a story and a pic for this. i did the sonnet just to complete the triangle. but it didn't really work--i should delete this."

Really, I didn't the story. But I like how it is laid out. I guess I sort of read it for enjoyment not comprehension. It's good.
